If you're feeling unsure about your logo there is an easy way to test how well it is working. This is how:
Look at your logo. Imagine the logo is a person who you are just meeting for the first time. Ask yourself 'what kind of person is this?'. Judging entirely on appearances, explain what you think their personality might be like. Are they professional, confident, shy, trendy, old fashioned, fun, boring or friendly? What else might you assume about them?
Next, ask yourself 'is this the personality I want my business to have?'.
If the vibes your logo gives out are in line with your desired brand personality then your logo is doing it's first job.
The other key things to consider when assessing your logo are:
Is it legible?
Is it visually appealing?
Is it simple enough to work well even when tiny?
Is it memorable?
Is it unique?
A good logo will be all of these things, but if the overall personality it projects isn't right for your brand it won't engage your target audience. For this reason it is crucial to to establish who you are as a brand before designing your logo.
I meet my Brighton clients face to face to discuss their brand and build a strong brief before we get started on design. That way we can assess which of the finished designs I produce are most successful.
